Sophia Hospitalized

My niece, Sophia, gave us all quite a scare. She has been having difficulty breathing lately. Evedna took her to the hospital last night and they gave her a nebulizer treatment and sent her home. She and Evedna didn't sleep most of the night because Sophia still had trouble breathing. This morning Evedna took her to her Dr. and they said she should take her to St. Paul's Children's Hospital right away. Evedna was getting ready to head there when they said Sophia's oxygen was too low and they needed to take her via ambulance.
Now when my dad called me at work to tell me, this is all he knew so far. Of course once I hung up I got scared and started to cry. Not uncontrollable - just tears. Long overdue tears that I have felt coming on over the past few days with all the stress at work and such.
I got ahold of Karise (who works a night shift until 3 am so was just waking up for the day at 11:15) and let her know what I knew. She picked me up at work and we headed to the hospital together. We made it an hour later because I was so distracted that I told Karise the wrong way to go on the highway, and we ended up in WI!
Sophia was diagnosed with some type of viral infection. It made one of her lungs collapse and dropped her oxygen levels down. She was taken off the breathing tube in her nose shortly after we arrived and seems to be doing much better.
They are keeping her overnight to monitor her and hopefully she and Evedna will be able to come home tomorrow. Praise the Lord for His protection and for it being caught in time.
