False Alarm

Our security alarm went off at 2:30 this morning. Karise was still working so she was wide awake and I became wide awake very quickly. She called the security system to let them know it wasn't a false alarm, have them call the police, and find out what area triggered it. I called my dad who lives one block away. He arrived about 5 minutes before the police with his German Shepherd. K and I stayed upstairs until my dad got there with the dog. There is no way either of us was going to investigate!

When my dad and Zaeb arrived we came down and checked things out. None of the windows or doors appeared open or tampered with, which is what should have set off the alarm. The police arrived and we checked out the windows with them too. K was finally able to find out from Brinks that the security system showed the phone line cut and that is why it went off. The policemen and my dad checked out the line outside, but it didn't appear cut. The phone company must have messed up the line somehow and made it trigger the alarm. We felt bad the police came out, but they were really nice and said better safe than sorry.

We kept the dog the rest of the morning in order to try to go back to sleep. Of course it took a while and I woke up at every little noise. Needless to say I am very tired! No rest before English class tonight though! My dad didn't sleep the rest of the night.

For those who don't remember or didn't know, our house was broken into 3 days before Christmas last year. Once you experience that feeling of somebody in your house going through ALL of your things, you get scared pretty easily the next time.

People at work think I am crazy for living in the neighborhood I live in. I try to explain to them that I am where God has me and that is where I am safest. They unfortunately cannot understand that concept.

I am glad it was a false alarm! I bet it is nice to know how quick your dad & his dog, as well as the police could get there in case something really did happen! Hope you can get caught up on your rest!
